Instructions
Preparing your mortar for first time use
A new mortar and pestle set needs to be cured and seasoned to remove stone grit from the inside.
Curing Process
Scrub the mortar and pestle with a brush under running water and allow to air dry. Never use soap or detergent in the mortar.
Fill ½ with white rice. Grind in a circular motion all the way around to a fine powder. Discard and repeat until the rice grinds white, is “clean” and has no grit or colour in it.
Rinse with cold water and allow to air dry.
Seasoning Process
Add 4 cloves of garlic, coarse salt, cumin seeds and a bit of whole coriander.
Grind the ingredients to a paste. Make sure it covers all the inner surface.
Allow the mixture to remain in the mortar and residue on the pestle at least overnight (12 hours).
Scrape out and discard the mixture. Rinse the mortar and pestle once again under running water and allow to air-dry thoroughly. It is now cured and seasoned and ready for use.

Please read and follow the usage and care guidelines in order to maximise the life of your Avanti® product.
Caution
Do not overfill carafe and always have spout facing away from you when depressing the plunger. When in use, keep out of reach of children.
Cleaning Instructions
To clean Plunger, separate infuser and lid from glass carafe.
Clean the filter with warm water and washing-up liquid. A washing-up brush may be helpful in removing coffee residue.
Clean glass with a mild detergent, rinse and dry thoroughly.
Rinse lid with cold water and dry.
Avoid abrasive cleaners and scourers when hand washing.
Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Do not assemble until all components are dry.
Dishwasher safe.
Directions for Use
Pre-rinse the carafe with boiling water.
Using quality coarse coffee grounds, pour two level tablespoons per 125ml into the carafe and add clean fresh water, just off the boil. (For optimum results never use re-boiled, stale or bottled water).
Stir coffee lightly with a non-metal utensil, then place the lid on carafe with plunger withdrawn for 4 minutes. This important pause allows time for the grounds to release the essential oils and essences which produce the full flavoured, aromatic delights inherent in fine coffee.
Finally, gently depress the plunger until the knob contacts the lid. Serve within 20 minutes.
